CherCounts is a free study platform for Singapore Secondary 3 and 4 Principles of Accounts students. This notice explains, in plain English, what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, please ask us.
Who we are
CherCounts is created and run by a Principles of Accounts tutor in Singapore ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at support@chercounts.com.
What we collect
- Your email address — so we can sign you in. Sign-in is passwordless: we never ask for or store a password.
- Your level — whether you study at G2 or G3, so we show you the right content.
- Your progress — the self-marks you give yourself on practice questions ("Got it / Almost / Need more practice") and which walkthroughs you have completed, so your progress is there when you return.
- A record of the content pages you open — each time a notes, practice or walkthrough page is served to you, we record your account, which page it was, and the time. This is explained under Watermarking and the page-view log below.
We do not collect your name, your school, your age, or any other personal details.
How we use it
- Email: to sign you in, and if necessary to contact you about your account.
- Level and progress: to run the app for you.
- The page-view record: only for content protection, as explained below. We do not use it to track your study habits, judge how much you revise, or report your activity to anyone.
Watermarking and the page-view log
The notes, questions and walkthroughs took a lot of work to write, and access is limited to signed-in students. To keep it that way:
- Every page you view carries a hidden mark unique to your account, woven invisibly into the text, and a faint visible watermark showing your email. If a copy of the content is shared or leaked, these let us trace it back to the account it came from.
- We keep a log of which content pages each account opens — your account, the page, and the time.
Because that log records page views, it could in principle answer a question like "did this account ever open Chapter 9". We deliberately do not use it that way. It exists only as an evidence trail to investigate leaked content, and we keep it only as long as that needs (see below).
How long we keep it
- The page-view log is automatically deleted after 90 days. Investigating a leak only ever needs recent history, so we hold less about you while losing nothing we would actually use.
- Your account details and progress are kept while your account exists. Ask us to delete your account and we remove them.
Who else is involved
We do not sell or share your data. We use a few trusted service providers to run CherCounts, and they process data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — database and sign-in.
- Vercel — hosting.
- Resend — sending sign-in emails.
- Google — only if you choose "Continue with Google".
These providers may store data on servers outside Singapore.
Your choices and rights
Under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Email support@chercounts.com and we will respond.
For students and parents
CherCounts is intended for Secondary 3 and 4 students, who are usually under 18. We keep the data we collect to the minimum listed above. If you are a parent and have questions, or would like your child's account removed, please contact us.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top of this page, and show any significant change the next time you sign in.
